This is it! Directly from Strasbourg/ France Steppah Huntah's 12" self-confidently takes the next step in the evolution of futuristic dance! The imperative invitation Walk This Step' sent out to the listener in terms of beat, bass, keys n' fx will definitely be gratefully accepted. Stunning Russian keysplayer & vocalist Oless T. and her partner in crime - doublebassplayer & producer Steven J. - beautifully combine organics with programmed electronics.
Inspired by Jazz, Afro, Latin, Funk and Electronic Music Steppah Huntah is permanently in search of the ultimate step of dance. This intention is clearly audible. Although sounds and percs are loosely, freely adjusted, they resolve in a tight production that kicks in straight away and slowly mesmerizes the listener with every single additional element that sets in, step by step! This 12" release contains the original version of Walk This Step', which is a massive percussive jam that jockeys sounds and melodies from beginning to end with Oless' keys and Steven's bass rounding up the whole thing beautifully. It also contains the original version of Steppah Huntah's Earth', as well as two mixes of Walk This Step' by Seiji, the founding member of Bugz in the Attic, and one of the principal players in the West London broken beat scene. Originally known for recording drum & bass in partnership with G-Force/Mark Force, he is now mainly known as Seiji, Opaque, Homecookin' and Everyday People. Seiji asked whether or not he could contribute to this release, after he had been guest at Rainer Trüby's famous Root Down club in Freiburg, where he heard the original track and instantly fell in love with it! Seiji's Black Forest Gateaux Mix sets in with warm keys that are immediately given the necessary groove by snaremovements that lend up-coming, warm bass sounds and those sweet n' smooth baahdap baahdap bapbahdabaah-lyrics a beautiful soft edge! Surely a grand opening, whereas his Rootdown Dub Remix is definitely also a goody, since Seiji basically uses the same key success ingredients only for a different recipe. Earth' has a certain spheric attitude with a kind, revolting bass-sound that keeps the spirit alive whilst nostalgic melodies resemble frolic movements that curiously play around the steady fundament of beat & bass. All in all ya' won't need a shovel to dig this! Steppah Huntah: Steven-J developed his production skills over quite a long period of time experiencing from old & new styles, Dance, Funk, Jazz and Urban Music. He collaborated with many musicians and djs and learned to master the doublebass, which allowed him to play what he adores and helped him reinforce his musical culture. Oless T., originally from Russia, began to play the piano at the age of 5 and attended classical training up until her 15th birthday. The discovery of her countries popular music led to her decision, to take part in the professional world of music. In 1993, she composed her first Pop Jazz album and started to play outside of her country. In her multiple journeys and tours through Europe, she decided to continue her musical experience in Strasbourg (France) in a Jazz club where she then met Steven-J. They've worked together since, playing in bands (essentially Jazz-Funk, Salsa, Samba, Folk) and producing their own music, both under the strong influence of Electronic Music (especially the Electronic Dance Music from England and the evolution of Acid Jazz). This center of interest determined the musical direction of the "STEPPAH HUNTAH".
