"Heart Ov Glass" Remixes Part 01

bleepin´electro...

Producer Marc Adamo and songwriter Rochelle Vincente are the names behind UK-based Electronica act, Product.01. Their sound is a mixture of electro and breaks, add Vincente´s trippy vocals to the mix of Adamo´s machines and you´ve got a unique sound that has already been making waves in the world´s electro community.

„If you were to state the fact that you couldn´t make a comparison between Product.01 and any other Electronica act in music industry you wouldn’t be lying, the truth is there is no-one else like them around! Their style is fresh, it is a pure mixture of razor-sharp Electrobeats, heavy Synth-basslines and a riot of bleeps that is complimented by lashings of aural S&M.“ (Juicy Magazine)

Same hapened to Blondies „Heart Of Glass“. A perfect jump into the 21st century. Totally crystal!
No wonder top names like Adam Freeland, Chicks On Speed, Dave Clarke, International Pony, Larry Tee, Tommie Sunshine, Si Begg and Princess Superstar are all vivaciously standing in line to get their tracks remixed by the UK super duo.
"Melts", the second cut on the A side, keeps the pace right down. Rochelle’s delicously enticing vocals float over hip grinding funky beats and sticky sweet bass, all in a twisted electro-hip-hop stylee. Melodic, trippy and plain` rude!

the other side...

On the flip side of this masterpiece a longtime master of electronic dance music, Justus Köhncke (Kompakt / Whirlpool Prod.) got to put things in his kind of mixing view. It starts very minimal and lifts more and more up by bringing that wonderful voice back till everything inside of you has the emediate wish to „shake that thing!“ Oh wow...this one will not let you down.

more S&M...

Yeah, that´s right! Be prepared for more “Heart Ov Glass”. As soon as everyone gets infected of the new versions, we are gonna hit you with more musical spanks. Because we all deserved it and actually we know that everyone will be addicted to the way Rochelle uses her voice to put a little warmth into the subconsciously inhuman dreams of technology and futurism. Coming soon “Heart Ov Glass Remix EP part II” with mixes by Lopazz (Output / Freundinnen / Get Physical) and Tommie Sunshine!

More bleepin´electro...

And here they are again, Product.01. Producer Marc Adamo and songwriter Rochelle Vincente are the names behind UK based Electronica act. Their sound is a mixture of electro and breaks, add Vincente´s trippy vocals to the mix of Adamo´s machines and you´ve got a unique sound that has already been making waves in the world´s electro community.

After their debut on Compost Records „Heart Ov Glass Remix EP 1“ we knew this wouldn´t be enough so we didn´t hesitate and here it is the „Heart Ov Glass Remix EP 2“.

A – No.#1 – Tommie’s view...
Tommie Sunshine from NYC is a legend in electronic dance music and a big fan of Product.01. He provides the first remix tricks on this EP2. In fact he´s taking us on a little time travel. If Product.01 made Heart Ov Glass 21st century, then Mr. Sunshine’s taking it back with the 1992 Candyflip version. Turning up the BPM and bringing it on with TB303 riffs and some serious warehouse party vibes this one’s got acid-bootleg monster written all over it.

A – No.#2 – The Instumental Version
Great mixing tool! A must for every Turntablerocker!

B – No.#1 – State Ov Electrik
Product.01 return with a new track bursting with electifying energy. Rochelle's mysterious, emotive vocals are propelled along by a relentless storm of futuristic beats, bleeps and deep brooding bass. A real grower in more ways than one.

B – No.#2 – The Lopazz drive...
It´s the HOG Lopazz (Output / Freundinnen / Get Physical) Remix which drives this EP 2 to a real must! Crunchy funk-guitars dual with an upfront slaped bass and behind all that it´s Lopazz enjoying his break-fast with a bowl of electronic bleeps and machine twinkels on a wonderful Sunday morning.
Press quotes

"The Justus Köhncke remix of "Heart Of Glass" -------- great !!!!"
HANS-PETER LINDSTRÖM

Since their 2003 inception, Brighton-based electronica duo Product.01 certainly haven't wasted any time in making friends in high places. Their spiky electro revamp of the Blondie classic has found its way onto playlists of such luminaries as Tiga and Felix Da Housecat, while the video has recently been jumped all over by MTV. Two EPs to choose from here, EP1, with the glorious Justus Köhncke remix on the flip just begs for replay, but for me EP2's standout, State Ov Electrik, comes out tops - bursting with crunchy beats and brooding basslines, setting the perfect framework over which soar the ethereal vocals of singer Rochelle.

"Tommie Sunshine remix: really breaks the ice!!!"
Kitzar

The music flows as an android machinery propelled by an overwhelming multilayered sound density that almost compresses the
air that surrounds the synthetic sonic waves crushing in and out into powerful electronic bursts of melody, grooves, rhythms and robotized angelic vocals.

KIKI NAVARRO

Here's a real musical oddity: Product.01 release remixes of a cover version
they did of Blondie's big hit 'Heart Ov Glass'. Marc Adamo and Rochelle
Vincente's cover version is an underground affair. German techno pop star
Justus Köhncke disrupts the noughties continuum, re-working 'Glass' using a
gently pulsing electro house backing and enigmatic synths reminiscent of
'New Gold Dream'-era Simple Minds.
DJ, MARCH 18 2005 - 3 STARS - EP1

UK-based electro-breaks duo Product.01 (aka vocalist / lyricist Rochelle
Vincente and beatmaker / programmer Marc Adamo) have already made a splash
on the breaks scene with their remixes for the likes of Free*land and recent
‘Loud' EP, and this latest 12" through Compost presents the second slab of
remixes of their recent breaks cover of Blondie's ‘Heart Of Glass', with
reworkings from NYC's Tommie Sunshine and Output Recordings artist Lopazz as
well as a previously unreleased new track.
On the A-side of this 12", Tommie Sunshine's lengthy ‘1992 Candyflip'
reworking of ‘Heart Ov Glass' strips the icy robotics of the original track
right down to just a burbling TB-303 bassline and crisp tech-house beats,
whilst retaining pretty much all of Vincente's vocal and running it over
some shimmering Detroit synth pads, shortly before things lock down into
slamming acid-house squiggles and drum machine breakdowns during the chorus
– of all of the mixes presented on this 12", this is easily the most
main-room oriented, with a particularly nice ghostly dub feel lurking behind
the whirring synths and delayed-out vocals.
There's an instrumental version of the Original version of ‘Heart Ov Glass'
that pretty much does what it says on the tin, stripping out all of the
vocals and also editing the track down slightly to a shorter running time,
while new track ‘State Ov Electric' ventures down into dark, brooding and
bleep-strewn breaks, Vincente's digitally twisted and contorted vocals
sliding through the sinister electronic haze and robotic electro textures in
a manner that calls to mind some of Bjork's ‘Homogenic' expeditions; there's
also an indefinable Miami breaks effect behind the scenes that's sure to
delight breaks fiends. Finally, on the flip, Output Recordings artist Lopazz
opts for a smoky, low-slung funk approach on his reworking of ‘Heart Ov
Glass', with funk guitars replacing the original version's synth riff and
broad funk-bass slaps riding over a hiphop-inflected backbeat – while it
takes the original to a considerably more downtempo place, Vincente's
echo-treated vocals sound just as at home in these surroundings, the
downbeat instrumental atmosphere calling to mind the likes of Bertrand
Burgulat's nocturnal band invetigations.
An excellent remix EP that certainly covers many bases at once, with
downtempo beats and darker-edged electro-breaks included alongside
acid-house; there's something to please virtually everyone here, and in my
opinion this 12" represents the more essential offering out of the two
‘Heart Ov Glass' remix EPs. Those who enjoyed Product.01's recent ‘Loud' EP
should definitely give this a listen.
INTHEMIX.COM - RECOMMENDED

In guter Tradition geschieht
dies "vinyl-only".
Thumbs up!
MEDIENKONVERTER.DE - 5 /6

Originally out last year, Product 01's cover of Blondie's classic is now coming back on Germany's Compost with an array of remixes split onto two 12"s. The ever busy Tommie Sunshine rough things up in his usual fashion (acid tweaks and rave stabs 128 BPM) whilst Lopazz do their sparse (yet dislocated) thang (116). However the best interpretation of the lot has to come from Justus Köhncke. On top form these days Kompakt's most talented artist/producer has re-injected some lovely minimal disco juice into it (114). The electro-breaks original with its alternative/industrial flavour still stands proud (116).
