"Mutations 1"

New Thunder The Emperor Machine Vocal Mix and Dub

Muallem´s bouncy electronic b-boy-beats get tweaked up a level, to NEW! industrial strength. Emperor Machine´s mutation has New York MC Beans spit ice cubes over a hyper-nervous soundtrack to a long lost shoot´em up arcade classic recently rediscovered in a sunken freighter off the Japanese coast. Son of Galaga-Disco is go!

Kaos Cheerleader Dar Star Mix

Dripping impossible deepness, this is a journey into the dark heart of Muallem and Shawn Lee&Mac226;s original about making marketing and distribution deals with the devil. Kaos&Mac226; technoid track is the sort of tune a Blade Runner would play in order to test the emotional response of a suspected replicant. Deeply unsettling and beautiful like a burning dragonfly.

Quotes:

“Munich-based David Muallem offers some serious bangers on his eclectic debut. This underground DJ blazes through some raw soul and hip-hop tracks, all while keeping a futuristic techno swagger. Featuring a host of MCs from Lyrics Born to Wordsworth, Franie Splits is definitely a rocker for the ages.”
(XLR8R)

“Frankie Splits delivers hip-hop brio, techno innovation and dancefloor euphoria with a sense of fun but, crucially, a straight face.”
(BBCi)

“Decent alternative take on hip hop and R&B from Munich producer David Muallem. It's rougher, with tougher beats than it's American counterpart, and a techy European edge. Some solid dub moments on board too.”
(Beathut.com)

“Definitely worth checking if your into rappers and not the thuggery that surrounds most hip hop nowadays” 5 Dancing Men
(DMC)

“...but there’s something to Muallem’s compositions that suggests his work will endure unlike that of many of those who pander to musical trends and crazes.”
(Mosoul)

"...that emporer machine mix is amazing!...them and beans makes a perfect combination 4 me. I will play it to death...promise!"
(Trevor Jackson / Output)

"I love very much the Kaos Dark Star Mix. Wicked !!! Hypnotic, long version, very very good, I´ll play it for sure."

(Alex Attias / Vision / Compost / Ubiquity)

"This 12” sounds great – Beans sounds dope over Emperor Machine’s early-80s B-boy breaks. And Kaos’ “Cheerleader” mix brings that Escape From New York vibe nicely!" (DJ Language / NYC)

"This is really good. Very moody."
(Luke McKeehan - Nordic Trax / 2guerilla)

"I really like the emperor machine rmxs but my favourite one is the excellent kaos rmx (the original is one of my favourites off the album...) cool stuff!"

"That drum track with mad lyrics is wicked, I will definitely play this at our Telescope night in Amsterdam!!! The dark mix is a in a whole other Universe, just the way I like it. Perfect for in my build up....."
(Edo Salgado / Amsterdam)

"A blinding package.. I am a big fan of the 'emperor machine' sound. Strong release for the floor. Dub would be my usable track.. Can't wait to unleash that beast..."
(Tim Faberge / Faberge Production / Ukraine)

"Wow, I love the Kaos mix of Cheerleader. Wowow!!!"

"Emperor Machine's stuff is something I always slavishly follow, cause all his stuff is brilliant This is no exception, but the real winner for me this time is the Kaos remix. Some really cool, dark, trancey (not trance) and slow
shit to piss off the ketacoke comatose with at peaktime....ha ha ha!!!"
(Prins Thomas / Eskimo / Full Pupp)

"Frrrreeesh!!!"

"Frankie Splits"

David Muallem is a 26-year-old guy from Munich. But his debut album sounds as if it was recorded somewhere between London and New York , at 10 000 feet, in a learjet with Luis Vuitton-leatherseats. The underground DJ has produced a wild, shiny yet brutally raw mix of futuristic hip hop, digital soul and dancefloor-rockers. There's only one label that makes sense here: damn good. International standard, no doubt.

"Frankie Splits" - named after his favourite haunt in NYC - features a squadron of renowned guest artists, amongst them Nu Soul-Queen Martine Girault (Revival), multi-talented Shawn Lee (UNKLE, London) and the hip hop-masters Lyrics Born (Quannum), Beans (Antipop Consortium) and Wordsworth (Brooklyn). Listen. It's the sound of NOW.

As a bonus, there are real melodies on top of Muallem's diamond beats. Yes, you can sing along. Somebody said we might be looking at "the German Pharrell" here. But why this humility?
The sky is NOT the limit. Things could get a bit bigger.

It’s the night after the night before and the fever’s not subsiding. But this time, it’s a different kind of rush, a new pace. Hitting you like a slow-motion exocet missile, then exploding on the surface of your soul. From the corner of your eye, you can just about make out the initials. It’s NYC, baby.

Together with the big city’s Beans and Wordsworth, two audio rebels from the same parallel universe, you ride the express train to Gold School central, Muallem in the driving seat. The message? Just like Ali, real champions can rock it in 3000 different styles. Chilled? This shit is colder than Mr Freeze’s frappuccino.

Listen with attitude and nod to these two B-Boy beauties, loud… until the bass goes boom boom. Mastered by few, this is music for millions…

"Sweat" / "Down 2004"

There was a sense that this one could be special and soon the bright lights of the city flicker on your retina, and a kind of nervous tension gets hold of you, it leads you down some strange alleyways and into a dark corner… to a promise.

You feel it long before you hear it, there’s something sharp and nasty attacking the soft bits between your ribs, and you fucking realise that this is it, this is what you came for, this very sound, this unbearably sexy nastiness that is SWEAT, the soundtrack to a million and two possibilities. And then, when you had a moment’s respite, somebody puts on DOWN 2004 and it grabs hold of you and pins you against the floor and then smashes you into the wall effortlessly, and this feels nice.

And then, when the assault is barely over, you find yourself stumbling to your transport, still in transit between now and then, and there is one question, the only question that seems to be eating your brain cells: Who the fuck is this MUALLEM?

Press Quotes on Compost 177-1 Muallem "Sweat":

Our favorite compost single since a long time! Muallem rules our box.
Monaco in the house."

La Gomma Gang.

"Muallem is up next on the innovative Compost imprint with a pretty seductive
two tracker. Sweat is a very nice smooth and sexy production, featuring a very enticing b-line that rolls smoothly alongside some nice flowing beats and some
seductive French vocals from Audrey. Nice uplifting riffs also help make
this quite a great record. Smooth cheeky house it is then!
On the flip you have Down 2004, an innovative record due to its very
complicated drum patterns and cut up vocal snippets. Eerie in one sense and
smooth thanks to the subtle baseline at one end.
Quite a nice release here from Muallem with two pretty unique tracks, but
more importantly, two pretty good productions.

Resident Advisor

"A side: a slow house track with funky bass + sexy vocals in French. On B
side the rhythm goes faster and gets pumpin’ on this dancefloor title made
of repetitive female vocals & deep atmosphere which alternate with happy
parts remembering late 80s / oldschool stuff. Original and efficient. Check
audio samples on Compost web site!"
