Quotes / Comments: "Toshio Matsuura does it again. The vocals sitting pretty in the mix with uplifting phrasing to take you to another place. Great!" Nik Weston (Makatsuku, UK) "Incredible one! Huge!" Zukie 173 (A Few Among Others, Switzerland) "Perfect for dark club and outdoor parties!" Stefan Bede (Hollow, Sweden) "Really cool!" Jakob Lusensky (DNM, Sweden) Here comes the first 12" of Intuit's new album "Intuit"! Welcome to the wonder of Planet Birth, with this first single accompanying the fabulous and high acclaiming debut album! The first remix is by Xantoné Blacq (Vinyl Junkies). We are very happy that 29 year old newcomer ("Searching For The Sun") Xantoné from London found time beside producing his first solo album, to contribute some deep jazz funk with a little disco flavor to his version of "Planet Birth". He added more seventies synthesized sounds to the original afro jazz version & of course Xantoné did not pass on the unique lyrics by Andy Bey, how could he! "Bubblin' Jam" happens just like that, jammin' with Ray Obiedo on the guitar, and Doug Carn drops over for a piano solo. That Franck and his baritone also turn up at the studio nobody could have known. The result's this fine journey into the world of funk & jazz harmonies. Toshio Matsuura needs no introduction. He's been a founding member of U.F.O., and also co-founder of Brownswood Studios with U.F.O. and Gilles Peterson! With "Western Sunrise", Toshio creates an easy flowing bossa, with slight percussion as the balance point. He also set value to the vocals of Andy Bey (of course!!) The track lets everything end in harmony: From the Black Forest (Germany) to London, London to Japan, back to Germany what a journey into sound! |

Walker (Radio Jazz, Copenhagen) "I'm so in love with this album! A true highflier! Really inspiring album, the best thing on compost since a while!" Hans de Bock (Beyond Jazz, Belgium) "Already heard Intuit "Western Sunrise" on Gilles's show! I am blown away by it. And: it features one of my heroes Mr. Andy "Celestial Blues" Bey!!!! Incredible release!" Gerd (4Lux, Netherlands) Alan Brown's little story (Soul Seduction, Vienna):Imagine the Bundesliga? SC Freiburg hit the transfer deadline with brand new acquisitions Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Ronaldinho, Henry, Nester, Del Piro!!!!! Bremen, Bayer Munich and FC Stuttgart are left quaking in their boots as SCF roar to the to Bundesliga title! Bring on the Champions league shout the Freiburg Anhänger! That's what it must of felt like when Doug Carn, Airto, Flora, Andy Bey, Ray Obiedo and co somehow ventured into the Intuit lineup for this the latest Compost long player. This is not a mid table release, not even top of the league Bundesliga stylee! This is full on Champions league runnings! A excellent team and individual effort throughout. Not much music around these days that will be played in ten, twenty, even thirty years time! This though for sure will stay the musical distance and reach the process whereby my concentration on the environment around me keeps me uplifted. I can't wait to play this in the future ;) This actually could be the album of the year?????? Biography
Without a doubt "Intuit The Album" is an exceptional debut, transforming the glory period of black music into the 21st century with a unique, personal stroke!!!

The two musicians and producer Till Maragnoli (bass) and Thomas Braun (drums) work together since 1997. Their first two releases on Compost (on Glücklich 4 and on Compost 100) were under the name Supersempft. As the first track on this EP "A New Beginning" already pronounces the duo takes a restart under the new name: Intuit. During the first few productions, the two boys from Freiburg (the home base of Rainer Trüby who also discovered them), Germany determined that they cant realise their musical ideas using a fix cast. After some time they developed their own typical style, which distinguishes itself through many diverse instruments and specific selected guest musicians. And the result is wicked, their tracks are complex arrangements with lots of lovely details a certain uplifting Brazil feeling makes this the perfect sound for the sunny days of the year. The summer 2001 starts here. Different live musicians guarantee diversity and freshness The four track EP contains the 2 brand-new tracks "A New Beginning" and "Supersempft Baby" as well as "Wewa" taken from Compost 100 and "O Preguicoso" taken from Glücklich 4. |
