"Human Patterns" Vocal Version
"The Great Outside" Dixon AVDC Alternative Remix
"Human Patterns" Earthbound Remix,
"The Great Outside" Dixon’s AVDC Retouch

The next installment from Beanfield features the unreleased vocal version of the title-track of Beanfield’s second album. The singer is Boris Geiger, who sang "Keep On Believing", "Planetary Deadlock" and "Enchanting Signs" as well. Somebody just mentioned he sounds like ABC’s Martin Frey. Why not?! Boris is also part of Beanfield’s live activities this summer, he’s playing percussions and of course singing, and he’s a member of Syrup and The Poets Of Rhythm, too.
Earthbound from Straight Ahead Recordings, Zurich, has also made tracks for Compost’s FSOJ Vol. 6, for their label a 7inch box set, and a remix for Joakim Lone Octet (Versatile). This is a clubby re-rub with much power and energy!
Dixon, of Jazzanova fame Berlin, did these cool and calm two versions of "The Great Outside", while adding some vocals as well and turned the downbeat into a twisted 2-step feel.

"The Season" is an outstanding deep vocal tune, one of the favourite tunes of the world wide family at the moment. The vocalist is Bajka, a young Spoken Word Poetry-singer, who lives part-time in Munich. At the moment she is studying music in Prague. Bajka was born in 25.12.1978 in (sic!) the Taj Mahal and grew up in Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan and on a catamaran in South Africa. Her birth in the Taj Mahal was being filmed and was made public through TV (movie "Embryo’s Vagabunden Karawane”). During her stay in Asia she learned to love the Indian-Oriental music. Together with the music commune Embryo (her father is the Embryo founder) she has been travelling around the world ever since. She spent her childhood with dissidents of Karnataka College Of Percussion, Charlie Mariano, and Mal Waldron. She went to school in Goa, Bangalore, Lagos, Portugal, Seattle (USA), Durban and Capetown. Her special relationship with Asia was and still is the main theme of her poetry. She has sung previous Spoken Word Poetry on following projects: "Instinctive Traveller”, Transglogal Underground, "Bubblegum” for South African Zulu Nation, for Noujum Oazza and his band Urban Dervish and for Royal Moroccan Orchestra.

Attica Blues is one of the strongest names in remix-biz and their "Blueprint” on MoWax is still a classic. They always dig deep into the musical side of a track, keeping it soulful, rhythmically off-beat, downbeat or midtempo, but always with the production skills of top US-hiphop-mindz. Anyway, they have made dozens of brilliant remixes in their unique style (for example: N’dea Davenport, Courtney Pine, Earthbound, Pressure Drop and many others).

"Catalpa” is a tree - with blossoms like trumpets. Unbelievably bizarre and beautiful! Percussion-madness in a drum & bass production style. Ian Simmonds, best-known as a member of the legendary band The Sandals and of his great futuristic solo-album on K7. He just finished a remix for Peter Kruder’s Peace Orchestra.

Swag are from Sheffield! They run a label, shop, production-unit and studio. They did a great remix job as always (as they did for Herbert, Green Velvet, Hardfloor, Blaze, Jimi Tenor, Maas, Moloko, Mateo & Matos, Groove Collective, Tiny Trendies, Steve Bug, Björk, Ian Pooley and many others). Also, Chris Duckenfield is a music journalist and the man behind RAC, which has released on WARP, and had a track on "The Future Sound Of Jazz”-Vol. 3.

"Enchanting Signs" Beanfield Remix
"Corso"
"Enchanting Signs" Off World Remix (Kirk Degiorgio)
"Enchanting Signs" Vocal Version

This is Beanfield’s fifth 12inch release and the appetizer of their forthcoming second album "Human Patterns”. This is complex without being difficult and breakbeat and jazz in a noodlefree way! It’s crystal and cocaine! "It’s typical Beanfield”, says the Compost crew!

Tipped for the top by the ones like Jazzanova, Gilles Peterson, Gilb-R, Alex Attias, Rainer Trüby, Michael Rütten, Pete Herbert, Tomoji Kitaura or Mitsuru of DMR Japan and others.

On the flipside you’ll find a fantastic clubby remix by Kirk Degiorgio (under his new moniker Off World Ensemble), and it is whatever you may expect from the As One man, a unique, beats-working, well-programmed, spacey tune. Kirk has established himself as a leading Club-DJ, radio personality in London, hosting the R solution show on Kiss FM. He recorded his debut 12inch in 1992 for B12 Records. Shortly after this debut he founded the OP ART label releasing early material by astists such as Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, The Black Dog and himself. Under the names As One, Future/Past he recorded for labels such as Planet E, R&S, New Electronica. Further albums for Clear and Shield secured Kirk’s reputation as a producer with a unique, individual sound, often incorporating jazz, soul and funk elements into electronic tracks. This pioneering approach led to his first major release "Planetary Folklore” in 1997 for the MoWax label. If you familiar with Compost’s Future Sounds Of Jazz compilations, check out his track "The Hide Out” on Vol. 4.

1999 has already seen Kirk Degiorgio sign his next project As One pres. The Off World Ensemble to Island Records, as well as completing critically acclaimed remixes for 4 Hero, Azymuth (Far Out Rec.), Papo Vazquez "Baila Plena” (Ubiquity) and Newcleus electro-hiphop classic "Jam On Revenge”.

Kirk Degiorgio used the vocals by Boris Geiger, the vocalist of the world’s best Rare Groove band The Poets Of Rhythm (watch out for their album on DJ Shadow’s new Quannum imprint next year), Boris is the singer of "Planetary Deadlock” and "Keep On Believing”, both Beanfield’s classic tunes!
