| DJ Linus and Pufo are Downtown Gigolos. No, this is not an information we've got from their girlfriends it's thier new project-name. And you best believe that it matches the subject of this 12" inch perfectly. Listening to "L'amour" with it's funky guitar samples, violins and it's soulful flow you can almost visualize Shaft's 'fro bouncin' as he does his pimp walk on the sidewalk in front of you. You might even feel your own afro growing while a soft smokey female voice whispers to you "L'amour c'est bon". And of course you can see the whole thing more level-headed and just admit that it's a fantastic nu-school disco track. "New Age" is their more electronic approche to house music and the combination of these two track's and the "L'amour (Frontmix)" shows the potential of this collaboration. Both DJ Linus, one of Germany's most respected DJ- and producer-talents, well known to many through his smasher "Bar-B-Q" (12-inch of the month in MUZIK) and Pufo who is probably one of Munich's most innovative house DJ's and a respected house and abstract-ambient producer, are well experienced in studio engineering. Linus has done remixes for: Planet Soul "Look Into My Eyes" (Strictly Rhythm), Chicago house label Guidance, Rose Windrosse (Ex Soul II Soul) "Sign Your Name", Mike Milk & Steve Sugar "Wicked Disco", Bobby D'Ambrossio "Moments Of My Life", Tab Two "Belle Affaire" a.m.o. Pufo works under many different synonyms such as Z-Plane and Mo'Funk. Under these synonyms he has already released two abstract-ambient albums and several 12-inches on the german labels Electrolux and Kosmo. As Pufo he has done remixes for Future Funk and DJ Linus. At the moment he is working on the music for a Swatch and a Diesel commercial. In the future you can definitly expect to hear more on Compose from Linus, Pufo and the Downtown Gigolos.
